ROLE UX Designer/Researcher
DURATION 6 months

PROJECT OUTLINE
Viemed is a provider of in-home medical equipment and post-acute respiratory healthcare services in the United States. Viemed’s service offerings are focused on effective in-home treatment with clinical practitioners providing therapy and counseling to patients. This website was one of the first of my projects at VieMed Healthcare. We wanted a platform that felt updated, fresh, and easy to navigate. Some of the problems users faced with the original site was having outdated information, not knowing where to go for help, and using contact forms that no longer existed at the company.
(Video conceptualized and completed by our in-house videographer Blake Johnson. Verbiage for the website created by our brand director).

Audience:
This site is a hub for all of the services VieMed has to offer. The audience for this site ranges from elderly people with COPD, to their caregivers, to providers in the healthcare industry, and even to investors and business professionals.
You can visit the live site at viemed.com
CHALLENGES
One of the challenges with creating this site is that it was one of my first projects at VieMed, so I did not know the scope of the company very well yet. This led to a lot of research and onboarding with learning the devices and how the company model works. I had help in the initial 2 months of this project from a designer who had been with the company for a long period of time, but left not long after starting this project. This made me the sole designer to finish the project after our initial wireframes.
TAKEAWAY
Overall, I learned a lot about the healthcare industry from this process. This was one of the first live websites I've created as an in-house designer while working directly with an outside development team. There was a broad range of audiences to consider for this project and a lot of refinement. This project taught me patience in reworking a design until it fit our user's needs before sending it over to production.
